TikTok a social media app that runs off the sharing of short videos recently sent a series of posts viral. This time, these posts happening to be deeply concerning.

The post was apparently an annual ‘joke’ post that just became more circulated this year. This year it was alleged that 6 men got together and created a series of posts that gained interest and views very quickly regarding ‘national rape day’.

Due to the quick circulation of the topic many counter posts were made in an effort to warn and protect women. People were encouraged to stay at home or in the least carry some form of self defence around with them.

We hope that we are not the only people to be disgusted by the idea of this. Rape is a violation of human rights and on the lowest level at that. 

As far as is known to have been reported there has not been a rise in assaults during the 24th however it may be too early to tell. Regardless, it is important for people to understand that no is no and a person owns a right to their body. 

Sad and disgusting as it may be this was simply what some call a practical joke. Not funny at all. But a practical joke.
